Week 17 to 20

To week 13 to 16

10" and 11 oz
Length-wise baby is also at the halfway point.
I notice that this time I tend to relax more when I am tired, maybe I am finally becoming wise? ;-).

Shortly after the last ob visit (at 16 weeks) I got my energy back almost as much as it used to be. On May 6th I bought myself a lawn mower and now I regularly use that in front of the house. It turns out to be something I like doing, a thing that Erik most definately does not mind. Next to that I suddenly have energy again to take walks, I picked up rollerblading (carefully) again and I go for my weekly swim during which Bram goes to the babysitter at the YMCA.

In the meantime we have found out the gender of the new baby. Just like when I was expecting Brma, we do not tell anyone, but we do keep track of the thoughts that other people have about it. With Bram 51% thought it would be a boy and 49% a girl. The result turned out to be scaringly even ;-) So far 60% says boy, but because we only have had a handful of reactions the fault in the information is still so big that it can hardly count as statistics.

From time to time I have annoying belly aches, but they are directly related to overdoing things. I do have to learn how to dose my energy. Some foods that I could have before I was pregnant, make me sick now, so I don't have them now. Because I am still tiny I sometimes forget that I cannot use my abdominal muscles as much as I was used to do, but I guess I learn that soon enough. I still wear my normal pants, but I feel that that's not going to be very long any more. I already wear my maternity bathing suit, even though it is still very 'spacious' it is more comfortable than my regular one.

People still hardly believe that I really am pregnant and say that you do not see anything at all yet. That is not completely true though. I most defenitely do have a belly but it is not very much pertruding yet, slowly but surely that now is happening and I will only fit in maternity wear again.

On May 21 I have been for my check up again. The heart picture they still needed for the gestational ultrasound has been taken and looked perfect. Unfortunately all the good news from that ultrasound only means 'warranty does not come with this kind of product' ;-) Well, at least it is reassuring.
