Week 36

To week 35

On Tuesdag we visited the gynaecologist again: blood pressure was ok, so was urine, and my belly had expanded by another half an inch. My weight didn't increase though, but that is not necessarily a problem: baby is growing slower now that there is less room to do so.

The little one already has descended to zero station (the lowest point before delivery starts), and I already was dialated 1 cm. That is not strange in itself: this can be caused by the increased pressure to the bottom of the uterus, and it can be weeks until the baby is born. It is clear though that baby's head is pointing down (as it should) - a reassuring though for what will happen a few weeks from now!

I went swimming on Wednesday again, and it seemed to give me energy for the rest of the day! I'm busy taking care of chores, as it's possible of course that the baby arrives a little early. I notice that I'm increasingly absent-minded, apparantly that can be part of the final stages of pregnancy as well.

On Friday I had cramps in my belly and back for quite a while. I was also nauseous, and I have not more appetite. This can be caused by the baby's increased demand for nutrients. The cramps are likely Braxton-Hicks contractions: exercise of the uterus for when the real work has to start.

We also made another picture:

On Saturday I had repeated cramps all day long. It was more expected than on Friday so no worries. There is also no pattern in the contractions yet, so I can be quite sure it will be a while before delivery starts. I'm nonetheless happy we found, picked up, and assembled a chest for the baby room.

De baby room has been finished enough so that the little one can come, we only need to do some decoration.
