Thursday, 12/8/2005Sinterklaas celebration This year we celebrated Sinterklaas more elaborately than previous years. First of all we were finally able to attend the klokhuis celebration. Previously Bram always had been too sick to attend and now we could go for the first time.
For Vera this was extra special because it was at her Dutch preschool. During this gathering Sinterklaas had decided to show up in person, which was really a bit scary.
Everyone sang songs, ate the special candy and the kids got gifts to unwrap.
At Sinterklaas eve Eriks managed to be home early and surprisingly enough, after dinner all of a sudden presents had fallen down the chimney and they were waiting in front of the fire place.
Bram and Vera enjoyed unwrapping the gifts. This year too Sinterklaas had been a tad too generous, for after unwrapping a few of the gifts, both Bram and Vera were really too busy playing with the new things ;-)
On December 6th Vera had regular preschool and Wilma then told the class a story about Sinterklaas. Obviously she had taken some of the traditional candy (special thanks to oma Annemie for importing these for us) for snacktime. All kids seemed to enjoy this a lot and Vera was really proud of her mommy showing up and tell the story.
