Pediatrician

yesterday we went to the pediatrician with Bram for his 3 year checkup. He now is 38,5" tall and weighs 31lbs. That is very good and he grew nicely in the past year, even though he has been sick for so long. In general the pediatrician was very happy with how he is doing.

June

Bram's birthday was on the 3rd, we celebrated this quietly. On the 5th though we arranged him a nice party, with a "wiggles"-theme, his absolute favourite show. We had made him a cake with on it "Captain Feathersword", his favourite figurine. It was a great party, there were 10 children and Bram got spoiled pretty badly. Bram utterly enjoyed himself and really understood that it was all about him.

Between June 11 and 22 opa Karel and oma Annemie visited. We went shopping and a few times to the zoo and many times to the playground. It was wonderful weather.

Notable for us too was that things were very different for us now Bram did not have therapy. It was extremely relaxed, because even though Wilma did work a lot with him in order to not loose any skills and learn some new ones, we could make our own agenda. Before Bram had therapy on 3 late afternoons and he was so weak because of being sick all the time, that this meant that we literally could not do anything on these days. Even food shopping tired him out so much, that he could not attend well to his session, which happened to be the most important things in his week.

Now this was not necessary any more, we all of a sudden how much time and energy this always had asked from us, for we all of a sudden "got back" 3 whole days to do things like go to the playground etc.

We completely enjoyed this fact.

Appointment with ENT

We had this yesterday. Like mentioned before: there is some residual infection visible on the CT-scan that was done on May 28th. In itself that's not ok. We discussed this with the ENT, also how Bram seems to be doing at the moment and what the pro's and con's are on all the options of treatment. Unfortunately the only thing that seems to most likely give the best solution would be an operation to clear things out and widen the sinusses. Unfortunately there is no guarantee that he will after that have no problems any more. We can only expect that it will decrease the number of infections.

Since Bram seems to be doing rather good during the summer usually (which now also seems to be the case), we decided to give him some rest and wait things out a bit. The operation might be necessary in the winter, but now we'll wait and see untill his next ongoing cold.
