Hands on the back; ill

Today Vera was her happy self, like usually. She does have something new though. She only runs (walking is just not fast enough). When she does take a slower pace though, she will walk with her hands on her back, that looks SOOOOOOO cute ;-)

Bram still is not doing really well. He still has diarreah and this makes him weak. Fortunately he did eat quite well this evening and also did not vomit so far today. According to his pediatrician it can be up to 2 weeks untill he is free of symptoms. Guess we'll have to be patient and careful with him.

About the week of November 17 till 23.....

On Wednesday we had our follow up appointment with Bram's ENT. As we already mentioned earlier this year, he needs tubes placed this winter.

Also he needs to have his adenoids removed, because these could be the cause of the many sinus infections that he has had so far. During her interview the doctor also asked questions about Bram's sleeping. Unfortunately we came to the conclusion that he most likely has a form of sleep apnea, which means that he stops breathing every once in a while. This first needs to be observed in a sleep study, because a possible treatment would be removing the tonsils. Since Bram is already due for surgery for the earlier mentioned stuff, the ENT would want to combine the operation if tonsilectomy turns out to be necessary. All in all it's quite something that he has in front of him.

The rest of the week:

Wednesday night Bram started to feel sick. He did not want to eat nor drink, because he had to throw up afterwards and he was getting very dirty diapers (loose stool). We suspected a stomac flu because Vera also had some loose stools. She however, was very happy, just the way she is. Bram kept throwing up and started to feel worse and worse. Friday morning we felt he was lethargic and he could not even hold down water any more. That's when we made and appointment with his pediatrician and let him sleep that morning. It was the only thing he wanted/could do. Vera in the meantime was so nice for him. She lay down next to him, smiling at him and she would bring him her favourite toys. SOOO cute! At the doctors' we got good news: no ear infection and probably just a stomach flu, as we had suspected. Unfortunately though he did have a few signs of dehydration, so we had to go to the hospital. He was put on an IV for a few hours. It turned out to be 5 hours in total before he started to wet diapers again. By 10:30pm we could take him home again. Vera all this time has been with a friend, who helped us out bigtime here. Vera had already had a rough time going with us to the pediatrician, she got so angry because she thought Bram was being hurt.

So, this was quite an adventure. We can tell now that Bram is getting better, he holds some food and juice down. Also he his much more his happy self, though he is a bit weak still.
