Trip

By now we are back about 2 weeks from our trip to the Netherlands. Here's a short report on it. We got to visit a few people that we had not seen for a very long time. We enjoyed this very much. We also spent a lot of time with the grandparents.

We had to take things easy, since both Bram and Vera got ill and were ill for a few days. They had pseudo croup, according to the family practioner that we saw just in case. Bram needed another treatment with antibiotics, since he again could not get rid of a nasty cold that lasted for weeks already.

It was very special for us that we could celebrate Vera's birth day in the Netherlands. Being there made it possible for all grandparents and most aunts and uncles to be there. This would not have been possible of course if we had been home. Vera loved the extra attention, she thought that her cake (brownie) was the most important.

Both Bram and Vera did a good job when we were traveling back and forth. They did have a hard time with the time difference this time though. It took them more than a week to get back into the routine after we came back.

Talking more/saying words

We notice that Bram is very focussed on communicating. He is babbling more and more in his own language. But even more hopeful is that we recognise more and more words he is saying. He says for instance "thank you", he does need to work on the pronounciation a bit though. One word he uses consistently and correctly though is "nee" (= dutch for 'no'). He has the pronounciation down on this one ...yep, he really is 2.

Not just a little bit

Vera did not stop walking since my last note about her making a few steps by herself. It seems as if she is walking whenever she is awake. She sure is good at it and does not fall so very often. We are even more happy about this, because she is so much happier than she has been for a while. Apparantly this is what she has been waiting for ;-)

Vera is walking by herself

Today Vera walked all by herself through our hallway. This was a distance of at least 6/7 yards. Ze was soooo proud, as am I. At the moment she still crawls more often than she tries to walk, but it is a break through!
