Saturday, 3/1/2003Excess waterLast weekend we had a lot of water in our basement because the snow we had the week before melted. Some of our things have been damaged........who would ever put something on the floor downstairs anyway ;) ?! At least starting tomorrow we'll get somewhat higher temperatures, so the remaining snow will melt as well. We did not really get to enjoy it much. It was just too much, too deep for Bram to play in and by the time it did get less/lower, it had turned into a dense layer of ice. Short: just wait untill he's somewhat bigger. We also did not get to go out on foot: the pavements had been cleared (people who live in a street are responsible for this), but only one foot wide or so..........not enough for our doulbe stroller. Erik has had several exiting moments walking up and down the hill on his trips to and from the train station. It was also not so very safe to use the roads instead: they had only been cleared half, because there was simply no room to leave the snow. But, like I said: it's thawing now.

BramSomething good: Bram tries to stand up by himself these days, without help of furniture. Sometimes he is successfull and he really is overly proud (with good right). Unfortunately it is still rare and very brief. But, he's only doing this since a few days and each day he tries more often. He excersises untill he drops, so to speak, literally even ;-). Also he is much more attentively playing with toys, tosses them about way less too. Conclusion: he is working hard and his development shows.

VeraVera is doing well too, she now rolls over. Since about a week she is getting cereal, the very first one with rice cereal and formula. About 2 days now I also put in pears, which she seems to love. She is seems to be so much happier now she too gets to eat when we eat. Obviously she cannot eat what we eat and also not each time, but she is more satisfied now when she's in her high chair during mealtime. I do think it is so cosy: we have 2 highchairs around our table. We just don't think about the bulkyness of the things.
